KUCHING (July 29): All preparations are in place for the Kuching Festival 2022, which kicked off with the much-awaited Food Fair tonight.

The Food Fair is located at the car park area around the Community Hall (Dewan Masyarakat), which is just beside the SJK (C) Chung Hua No.3.

Observations by drive through in the area saw canopies and stalls have been set up at both sides, with tables and chairs.

A total of 330 stalls selling only food are all ready. There will also be three extra tents for sponsored booths.

Kuching South City mayor Dato Wee Hong Seng said the final overall preparation was so far so good.

“We had our last preparation inspection last night and they are so far so good.

“We should be able to get everything well organised and run smoothly throughout the festival,” he said.

The Food Fair, without doubt, is the biggest food event that happens without fail in Kuching City during the festival.

Slated for between July 29 and Aug 21, the annual Kuching Festival Food Fair is making a comeback this year after a two-year lapse due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

It has always been, and expected to be, one of the main attractions within the festival, as well as a mouth-watering event the Kuching Festival cannot do without.

The Kuching South City Council (MBKS) Community Hall is also ready to hold exhibitions for various booths promoting local and branded products, accessories, decorations, services, wedding packages and many more.

Besides the bustling sale of food and drinks at Kuching Festival, preparation for a beautiful Garden Show and awesome nightly performances, which are free of charge, such as singing and dancing by local talented performers to entertain those going to the Food Festival are also in place.

Kuching Festival is held annually to maintain part of the city’s plan to boost the local tourism and food industry.
